What exactly is Sli enabled on graphics card?

When customizing it I came across the video card and there were 512MB Nvidia® GeForce™ 8700M GT and Dual 512MB Nvidia® GeForce™ 8700M GT - SLI Enabled. The Sli Enabled costs +400 dollars more. Can someone please explain me what Sli …
